Dating again after a divorce is an adventure.  It can be wonderful, but it can quickly become the opposite.  There are some people out there ready to take advantage of someone seeking to find a romantic relationship.  Let's take a brief look at what a Romance scam is and a few potential warning signs to look for.

First off, what is a Romance Scam?

According to Avast, a Romance Scam is...

"A romance scam (or online dating scam) is when a fraudster 

tricks someone into a fake romantic relationship."

A scammer will scam any willing victim, but they tend to seek out people over 50, especially people recently divorced or widowed. But, they will go after anyone they think they can manipulate. 

Here are a few warning signs...

• They may have a very attractive profile photo.  They often use stock photos or model photos.
• They may have very few photos.
• They don't live or work near you.
• The online relationship moves fast.  They may proclaim their love after a couple of conversations.
• They may make promises before you even meet, like marriage or moving in together.
• They may quickly try to move you off the site in order to get more personal information.
• They avoid video chats.
• Asking for money before you have even met is a huge red flag.

These are just a few possible warning signs to be aware of. If you are dating using a dating site, be cautious.  Try to weed out the bad and have nice times with the good.
