Morning Motivation "Your Eyes Told Me"

This is an update of an old post written in 2011.
Several weeks ago I watched "The Sixth Sense."  I love that movie.  The twists and turns the surprise ending.  And that adorable little boy, what an amazing actor, and who doesn't like Bruce Willis:-)The little boy did not share much regarding his thoughts and feelings.  He kept them hidden.  He kept his pain hidden.

I loved the son's relationship with his mom. He loved her deeply and could read her emotions.  At one point he asked her why she was so sad, her reply "What makes you think I'm sad," Cole's reply "Your eyes told me."  I think many of us would love for someone to care so deeply about us that they could see through our facade and see our pain.  That they could look in our eyes and read what is behind our smile, our mask.  Well, there is someone, God.  He sees our pain, our loneliness,  our confusion,  our guilt,  our fear, and our utter devastation.  And guess what?  He loves us!  (I do wish he would make physical appearances so we could get a smile and a hug and an audible word of encouragement.  But I guess that is one way we can be his servants, to give a smile and a hug and a word of encouragement to those we encounter, you never know who needs it.

Finding Joy Aug 2017 "The Joy"

There is joy to be found even though life is in no way perfect.
Here are some moments of joy from Aug 2017

Afternoon Tea with my girls.

 Our trip to the mountains
 Hiking in the NC mountains
Enjoying the solar eclipse, my Zumba buddies, good food, family out for a drive, sharing a bunk bed with Caleb.
 Maggie' first birthday party:-)
And let's not forget the joy of God's promises.
One of my favorites
"I will never leave you or forsake you".
Thank you God:-)

Morning Motivation "You are the God who sees me" Thank you God!

Hagar in the book of Genesis did not have it easy.  But even with difficulty in her life, she recognized God as "the God who sees me."
Help us, God, to realize you see us too.  In pain, in the joy and everything in-between thank you God for being the God who sees, understands and guides us.

The Beginning, Help From a Radio Station, K-Love

I remember the painful early days of my separation.  The event knocked me to the ground where I landed in a soul crushing fetal position. My emotions changed, and in an instant, my calm and clear mind fell into a cloud of confusion and despair.  I remember my ability to do the things I did every day now became impossible for me to do.  I could no longer read a book; my mind was too bruised.  I could no longer watch a TV show; I could only stare at the TV as episode after episode danced across my screen as I watched in an emotional stupor.  I could no longer listen to the news for doing so would only enhance my new found fears.

The only thing that I could do was find something that gave me hope and direction.  For me, that was a radio station I used to take for granted.   K-Love.  I would listen to it when ever I was in my car.  Sometimes I did not want to hear what the lyrics in the songs said to me about hope because in my mind, at that time, I had no hope.

I remember one song in particular that touched my soul and still does today.  "Praise You In This Storm" by Casting Crowns.  I mention this song in my book, "My Story My Divorce God's Promise, The Beginning."  I talk about the day when there was a strong storm over my town, the day I went out and sat in the rain and wind and asked God to send a lightning bolt to take me to His peace.  God did not take me home but instead lifted me up.  Though the music and through His word he gave me strength and a newly found testimony.

I hope you are not in a devastating divorce situation.  If you are, please find something to give you hope.  It could be a devotional, your church, your faith, or it could be a radio station.

Thank you K-Love for your ministry.  For giving me hope in my storm through the music and God's word.
God Bless,

Beware the Narcissist

I never really understood the meaning of Narcissism.  There was no mention in primary or secondary school.  I don’t remember mention of it in my psych classes in nursing school.  How can we protect ourselves from something we don’t know or understand?  With that in mind, I will be doing a series of quotes from Pinterest to help us all better understand and protect ourselves from the narcissist.

Morning Motivation Genesis 28:15

Thank you, God, for walking with us on this journey.  Please direct my path and keep me on the road that you want me to follow.  If I start to deviate, please put up a road block and redirect me.  Since I can't see clearly, I put my full trust in you. Help me to live the life that you want me to live.
I love you,
