Beware the Narcissist-Part 1-Intro to the Series and A Quote by Jeffrey Kluger

When going through a divorce, many people realize for the first time, maybe in decades, that they were married to a narcissist.  Sadly, most are not taught in school, or anywhere for that matter, what a narcissist is, so when confronted with narcissistic behavior, we may not be aware of the signs or potential abuse involved in a relationship with a narcissist.  With that in mind, I will be doing a series on "Beware The Narcissist" to help us become more familiar with the typical behavior of a narcissist.  Even if we are lucky enough to have not been in a narcissistic relationship, it is good to know what to look for to avoid such a relationship in the future.

Today, let's look at a quote I found by Jeffrey Kluger...

Now my question is, why?  Why do narcissists refuse to admit to making a mistake? After all, we all make mistakes, right?  Well, a narcissist does not see it that way.

Here is a quote from Emily Mayfield Ph.D...

Narcissists' unstable sense of self doesn't allow them to work on themselves and the lack of empathy prevents them from seeing how their actions affect others.

Another quote I found explained it all.

"A narcissist is never sorry because he (or she) perceives himself as perfect. He can’t be wrong.
He views himself as superior to everyone and, thus, always right.

This series, "Beware the Narcissist" will be posted monthly.  I would love to know your story.  Were you married to a narcissist?  How are you doing now as you attempt to recover?

God Bless You on Your Journey
